LMA CEO Cameron makes ‘seamless digitisation’ 2019 priority

Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) CEO Sheila Cameron said “the pursuit of seamless digitisation” was a priority for 2019, as she spoke to leaders from the Lloyd’s managing agency community at the association’s annual lunch.

She said that the Lloyd’s market would continue its journey of transformation this year, combined with sustained underwriting discipline and a central strategy for distribution and international marketing.

“Everyone in this room shares the same passion for the market, which I believe is what enables us to identify and realise the opportunities that arise from change.

“Reaching our goal of a market digitised from end to end, for example, is one such outcome that will enable our members to concentrate on adding value for customers, so we must make sure that it happens.”

Lloyd’s has been working to transform its market from a predominantly paper-based system to a digital one using PPL, the electronic placement platform, since 2017. But progress has not been fast enough for critics of the system.

Cameron also emphasised the LMA’s role in bringing Lloyd’s peers together to build a consensus to deliver these priorities and to help create a more efficient and innovative marketplace.
