Lockton poaches Zurich CEO for non-exec director role

Insurance broker Lockton has appointed Dave Smith as non-executive director. He joins the firm from Zurich UK General Insurance, where he was chief executive officer (CEO) and UK branch manager.  In his new role, Smith will advise the boards of Lockton Companies and its managing general agent (MGA) Mapledown Underwriting. Smith has spent the last ten years of his career at Zurich, in a variety of executive roles. He is also a board member at the Chartered Insurance Institute. “We’re delighted to welcome Dave to Lockton,” said Mike Hammond, CEO, Lockton. “He is an individual we have admired and enjoyed working with for a number of years, and his appointment once again demonstrates our ongoing commitment to attracting the very best industry talent.  “Dave’s track record of success speaks for itself and his in-depth understanding of the UK general insurance market, governance and top-level industry engagement will be invaluable to us as we look to continue our unbroken run of growth.”
