Markel appoints former Chaucer exec as assistant underwriter

Specialist insurer Markel has appointed Sarah Everall as assistant livestock underwriter in its equine and livestock division. She will report to Rob Wells, global livestock senior underwriter and has been tasked with growing Markel’s livestock book in terms of both scale and reach. Everall began her career in London as a money broker for Tradition UK and joined Chaucer as a cargo underwriting assistant in 2010. She gained underwriting authority in 2012 supporting two underwriters on the Chaucer syndicate. Wells said: “There are plenty of opportunities to develop our exposure to the global livestock market. Sarah’s cargo experience will support the strong livestock cargo transit business we have, while her proven ability to develop broker and client relationships and the additional scope she will bring to the team, will be important in our ability to exploit the opportunities we see.”
