Markel expands personal accident team with three Travelers hires

Specialist insurer Markel International has expanded its personal accident, contingency and entertainment team with the appointment of Alex Clegg as senior underwriter, and Pippa Morris and Anna Beaman as underwriters.

Beaman will focus on building and developing the existing book of contingency business while Clegg and Morris will develop Markel’s film production and media business, writing advertising agency indemnity, commercial producers indemnity, ad wraps, film production insurance and growing Markel’s book of package policies.

The trio join from Travelers, where Clegg has 19 years of experience, most recently as product manager in the media and entertainment division.

Morris was previously senior underwriter for Travelers’ media and entertainment portfolio, having held earlier positions at Chubb.

Beaman has over six years of experience as underwriter at Travelers, assisting Clegg and Morris with the development of its media and entertainment offering.

James Leach, who was appointed as managing director earlier in the year, said: “Alex and his team have a proven track record of profitably writing business in the media section of the contingency market. This is an area in to which we have been looking to grow for a number of years and these appointments will certainly strengthen our offering in this market.

“We are excited to have the three of them on-board, to grow our contingency book and to strengthen our film production and media offering.”
