Markel International, the specialist insurer, has appointed Neil Winters, formerly of Apple, as head of information management and application services.
His initial focus will be the development and delivery of a data repository and developing a reporting and analytics strategy to support the business in making quicker, better informed decisions.
Winters joins Markel from Apple where his role was global business intelligence manager across Europe, the Middle East, India and Asia.
Prior to this, Winters held senior business intelligence positions at Microsoft Corporation UK, BBC Worldwide and British Sky Broadcasting.
Hugh Maltby, director of operations, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Neil to Markel and are confident that, with his leadership skills and experience in business intelligence, he’ll bring an original and inventive perspective to how we make best use of the data we have to help support the growth of our business. We are in a data rich environment and technology is an enabler for Markel to improve the performance of its business, drive better decision making and enable it to make better decisions about its priorities.”
