Markel hires senior claims adjuster from Willis

Specialist insurer Markel International has appointed Claire Lane as senior equine claims adjuster.

In her new role, Lane will report to claims manager Doune Robinson.

Lane had previously been at Willis Towers Watsons’ bloodstock insurance broker Hughes Gibb for nearly ten years, most recently as equestrian claims manager and has had 14 years of experience in the insurance industry.

"Claire’s an experienced claims practitioner with a strong academic and professional background in equine science and the bloodstock industry," said Robinson.

"She has strong and established connections with all the counter parties involved in claims handing. We think she'll be a great addition to the team."

Juliet Redfern, managing director of equine and livestock, added: "Claire is a great appointment and one which emphasises the strong collaboration between claims and underwriting at Markel, which is so important to the brokers."
