Marsh appoints chemicals and life sciences industry practice leader

Insurance broker and risk adviser Marsh has appointed Jenny Yu as chemicals and life sciences industry practice leader for the UK & Ireland.

Based in London, Yu will join Marsh in January 2020 and report to Charles Beresford-Davies, head of industry practices, UK & Ireland. She succeeds Simon Thompson, who is retiring from the firm.

Yu will join Marsh’s UK & Ireland Industry Practice leadership team, which is responsible for developing and delivering Marsh’s industry sector expertise and services to clients ranging from SMEs to global corporations.

She joins Marsh from Munich Re, where she has spent the last nine years in a variety of underwriting and analytics roles focusing on the life sciences, pharma and biotech sectors, most recently as life science risk solutions leader.

Commenting on the appointment, Charles Beresford-Davies said: “Clients need advisers that have both the technical expertise and strategic insight to help them navigate complex risk issues and deliver the breadth of Marsh’s sector capabilities. We are very excited about what Jenny, with her extensive experience in the life sciences sector, brings to help clients served by our Chemicals and Life Sciences Practice.”

Yu added: “The life sciences sector faces an increasingly challenging risk environment, ranging from pressures on product pricing and accelerating regulation to threats to intellectual property, data security and supply chain resilience. I look forward to leading the Chemicals and Life Sciences team to deliver solutions that enable Marsh’s clients to address the risks they face, protect their assets, and continue to thrive.”
