Metromile lands former McKinsey and Expedia exec as CFO

Metromile, the US-based digital insurance platform and pay-per-mile auto insurer, has named a new chief financial officer (CFO) as it looks to take its growth to the next level.

Regi Vengalil will take up his post on May 24, 2021, assuming responsibility for Metromile’s financial planning and operations, treasury, investor relations, reinsurance and corporate development.

He was previously CFO at Egencia, Expedia Group’s corporate travel division, leading a global finance team of more than 100 professionals. He also previously served as a member of Expedia Group’s executive team as global head of corporate development and strategy.

Before Expedia he was head of strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and business operations at LendingClub. He has previously led teams advising financial services and travel firms on growth strategies at McKinsey & Company, and is a member of the board of directors of Porch Group, the home services vertical software company.

Metromile chief executive officer Dan Preston highlighted Vengalil’s impressive track record as a financial steward, corporate development strategist and operations executive. “With his financial expertise and leadership, we are primed to enhance our unit-economic advantage and rapidly scale our business,” he said.

Vengalil praised the work Metromile has done to deliver fairer prices, fast claims resolution and improved customer experience, making “insurance real-time, individualised and fairer.”
