MGA Lions Gate looks to expand footprint across Canada

Lions Gate Underwriting (LGU), an independent underwriting agency and Lloyd’s coverholder, has recruited a new managing director and head of corporate development to support its expansion plans.

Robbin Botnick (pictured) joins LGU from Excess Underwriting where she was chief operating officer. She has more than 25 years of experience in scaling MGAs and in commercial and personal lines of business. She was previously managing director at Linx Underwriting Solutions, a subsidiary of Aon Canada.

LGU seeks to benefit from her experience in Lloyd’s and the Canadian domestic market to help expand its footprint across Canada. Based in Toronto, Botnick will report to Brian Gomes, president of LGU Canada.

Gomes said: “LGU has experienced significant growth in recent years and has ambitious plans moving forward. The team is thrilled to welcome Robbin as we continue to scale the business.”

Botnick added: “I am delighted by the opportunity to join LGU and contribute to the strong culture and build out of the business. I am excited to join an organisation that is diverse, inclusive, and talented.”
