Miller poaches Peak Capital CEO to lead ILS business

Miller, the independent specialist re/insurance broker, has poached Peak Capital’s chief executive officer as its new head of insurance-linked securities (ILS).

Erik Manning will assume responsibilities as Miller’s head of ILS in the third quarter of 2021.

He has over 20 years’ experience in the sector, having worked at Aon Bermuda, Markel Re and Guy Carpenter before leading Peak Capital.

He will be joined in Bermuda by Sebastian Alexander, who relocates from Miller’s London office, and Francesca Cacace. Alexander has experience in ILS, placing industry loss warranties (ILW), and in the traditional markets in London, Europe and North America. Cacace will support the Bermuda team, bringing her diverse experience and local Bermudian knowledge.

Manning will report to Charlie Simpson, head of Bermuda, who praised his “deep knowledge of the market, longstanding relationships and extensive experience in developing ILS products.”

Manning added: “With the insurance and reinsurance markets currently experiencing a period of disruption, Miller is uniquely positioned to harness the opportunities presented by these changes and grow its business significantly over the coming years.”

The appointment is subject to approval by the Bermuda Department of Immigration.
