MS Amlin makes double swoop from Ascot, AEGIS for key roles

Lloyd’s global re/insurer  MS Amlin has tapped senior personnel from Ascot and AEGIS London to expand its risk and compliance divisions, as part of its plans for further advancement.

Ruth Adamson (pictured left) has been appointed as head of insurance and financial risk, with Kevin Ball (pictured right) as head of compliance. Joining later this year, both new hires will report to chief risk officer Vishal Desai.

Adamson has joined MS Amlin from AEGIS London, where she has worked since 2008, holding the position of head of risk and governance for the last eight years. She has over 17 years of risk management experience and was responsible for setting up and developing AEGIS’s internal audit and risk management functions. Additionally, she was head of delegated authorities and chaired AEGIS’s D&I Committee. Prior to AEGIS, Adamson had spent time at Aspen Re, having begun her career in Deloitte’s audit and assurance practice.

Ball joins MS Amlin from Ascot Group, where he has worked since 2004, serving as head of compliance for the last seven years. With over 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry, he has amassed considerable expertise in regulatory advice, financial crime prevention and conduct risk. Prior to his position at Ascot Group, Ball worked at Hiscox within its operations team.

Desai said: “I am delighted to have appointed colleagues of Ruth and Kevin’s calibre to these important roles. It is testament to our focus on attracting best-in-class risk management and compliance talent to partner with the business in the next phase of its journey."
