Pickel to succeed Wallin as E+S Rück CEO

Hannover Re Group has revealed that Michael Pickel will succeed Ulrich Wallin as chief executive officer (CEO) of its German reinsurance subsidiary E+S Rück.

Pickel is currently a member of the executive board of Hannover Re, responsible for target markets in P&C reinsurance. He will assume the new role from March 2019.

Wallin is stepping down and retiring in May 2019 after more than 35 years at the reinsurer. Earlier in August, the company announced that Wallin will be replaced by Swiss Re’s Jean-Jacques Henchoz as Hannover Re CEO.

In addition, E+S Rück said that starting January 2019, Jonas Krotzek will take over from Karsten Faber as managing director responsible for Germany, Austria and Switzerland as well as Italy and business conducted with the Talanx Group.

"We anticipate further attractive business opportunities in Germany for E+S Rück in 2019," Pickel noted. "It remains our goal to keep our market share on a high level and offer our clients innovative reinsurance solutions."
