Pioneer creates American underwriting Unit

Pioneer Underwriting, a specialist Managing General Agency (MGA), has created a North American Primary PI underwriting unit, continuing with its development strategy.

Pioneer has appointed Patrick Comerford, former senior vice president at Lexington Insurance Company and Clive Moore, former underwriter at Brit Syndicate, to run the new operation.

The pair will join the company once they are free of their contractual obligations. The unit will be part of the Pioneer platform, which is 100% backed by Liberty Syndicates and will be based in the Lloyd’s building.

“The appointment of Patrick and Clive, both respected PI practitioners, reinforces our expansion strategy targeting best in class underwriting expertise,” said Darren Doherty, chief executive officer of Pioneer. “The unit aligns with our other underwriting platforms to create an integrated portfolio of choice for brokers and their ultimate clients.”
