QBE Australia appoints workers compensation manager

Re/insurer QBE has appointed Andrew Borden as general manager for workers compensation, effective 21 March, 2016.  Borden will be based in Melbourne. He brings with him nearly 20 years of experience in the insurance industry with over half of that spent in the workers compensation sector, across rehabilitation, claims and underwriting.  He has been with QBE for the past three years, most recently as regional manager, intermediary distribution, Victoria and Tasmania where he established an exceptional reputation in the broker market.  Borden takes over from Jason Hammond, who was recently appointed to the newly created role of general manager, broker distribution. Jason Clarke, executive general manager, intermediary distribution, QBE Australia, said: “We are extremely fortunate to have Andrew take up this key role leading our national workers compensation team.  “Andrew brings critical skills and experience to the role as we continue to seek new and innovative ways to meet the needs of our customers, while also delivering sensitive and effective support to injured workers.”  Borden added: “I’m excited to be taking on the role of general manager, workers compensation. QBE has a long history and strong commitment to the workers compensation sector and I’m looking forward to joining the team as we continue to deliver high levels of service to brokers, employers and injured workers.”
