RFIB appoints international non-marine MD
RFIB Group, the Lloyd’s insurance and reinsurance broker, today has appointed Richard Macfarlane as managing director of its international non-marine business.
Macfarlane, who previously served as head of RFIB’s global property and construction risk solutions (GRS) unit, takes up his new position with immediate effect.
This announcement follows a recent realignment of some of the RFIB business areas to facilitate its growth strategy. The international non-marine division comprises RFIB’s political risk & trade credit, international non-marine treaty, GRS and financial and professional risk units.
Macfarlane brings more than two decades’ experience to his new role. He joined RFIB in 2011 to launch its global property and construction unit and has overseen the rapid growth of the business line.
Jonathan Turnbull, chief executive officer of RFIB said: “Our international office network and established presence in emerging markets presents us with tremendous opportunities for expansion. When combined with our suite of specialist products and reputation for service we are well positioned to realise our growth ambitions. During his time at RFIB, Richard has demonstrated exceptional management ability and I am certain our international non-marine business will go from strength to strength under his leadership.”
MacFarlane said: “We have built a terrific team, who have the expertise, experience and service focused philosophy to expand our presence and diversify our offering in mature and developing markets. I am delighted to take up the role of managing director of our international non-marine division and look forward to maximising these capabilities to realise our significant ambitions.”
