RLI appoints new chief claim counsel following retirement

RLI, a specialty insurer serving property/casualty and surety markets, has appointed Betsy McLaughlin as vice president and chief claim counsel, succeeding Brian Casey, who is set to retire on March 31.

Casey will continue to serve in an advisory role with the company upon his retirement. He joined RLI in 1996 as manager, casualty claims, and served in various roles in the claim department until his promotion to vice president, chief claim counsel in 2015.

McLaughlin joined the company in 2000 as director, claim, and held various positions in the claim department until being promoted to vice president, claim counsel in 2015.

"Betsy’s deep claim expertise and industry knowledge has been a tremendous asset to our organization and will continue to serve her well in her new role," said Craig Kliethermes, president and COO of RLI Insurance.

"Throughout his career with RLI, Brian has exemplified true leadership through his ability to consistently navigate complex situations and achieve successful outcomes," Kliethermes added. "We are grateful for his commitment and service and wish him all the best in retirement."
