RSA draws financial risk underwriting leader from Aviva
RSA Insurance has appointed a new head of financial risks, who joins from Aviva with a background at Chubb and CNA.
Matt Houghton joins RSA as head of financial risks in its mid-market, commercial lines business. He will manage the business’ financial risks portfolio, which is part of the professional & financial risks team (ProFin).
Houghton will be based in Manchester, and joins the business from Aviva. He will assume his new role in October and will report to Jo Darkins, ProFin director at RSA Insurance.
Houghton is an experienced financial lines underwriter with over 15 years’ experience. He started his career at CNA, before joining Chubb as a financial lines underwriter. After more than seven years at Chubb, he joined Aviva in 2017 where he held a number of roles, most recently specialty lines underwriting manager.
Darkins said: “In a world of rapid technological advancements, economic uncertainty and multiple emerging risks, the demand for effective and quality financial lines cover is growing. The number of threats facing businesses is not getting smaller and the impact of incidents can be significant. Having the correct cover, products and expertise in place is increasingly important for companies of all sizes.
“I’m delighted Matt is joining us. His technical capability and underwriting experience will really complement the existing strength we have in the team. His existing relationships, reputation and knowledge of the market will help us profitably grow the portfolio and meet our strategic vision.”
