The Hanover promotes 20-year vet to lead in small commercial

US property and casualty insurer  The Hanover Insurance Group has tapped in-house talent to fill the role of president of small commercial.

The Hanover has appointed Charles Hamann as president of small commercial to replace Michael Keane, who has taken on a new role to focus on the company's long-term strategy.

Hamann has been with The Hanover since 2002 as the latest series of steps in a 35 year industry career. He has served as the company's deputy president and chief underwriting officer of small commercial. Prior to joining The Hanover, he was the president of small business at OneBeacon Insurance and vice president, commercial lines, at Chubb Insurance.

Richard Lavey, president, Hanover Agency Markets, said: “Chip was an integral player in helping to architect the profitable growth of our small commercial portfolio, and we are excited to see him step into this new role. He is well respected as a leader, and his extensive experience will help him capitalise on the momentum of our small commercial business and drive even greater growth while serving the needs of our agent partners and our small business customers.”
