Tokio Marine HCC International expands with new talent and offices in UK

Tokio Marine HCC International (TMHCCI) is seeking further growth in the UK regional professional risks market with three underwriting appointments and investment in new premises in Manchester.

Jazz Parkash has been appointed as development underwriter in the Birmingham branch, having spent 18 years in the broking sector with Lockton, Giles Insurance Brokers and latterly Wesleyan, where she was professional indemnity broking manager.

Joining Parkash in the Birmingham team is Rhian Ottey who has been appointed underwriting assistant to the professional risks team. Ottey has joined from Arc Legal and will assist underwriters across a range of professional risk products and services.

In Manchester, Scott McDermott has joined as a development underwriter for the region. Prior to that, he spent nearly five years at Horwich Farrelly, working in both claimant and defendant civil litigation, before moving to BLM in 2017. In 2019, he made the move into the professional indemnity insurance market with Towergate Insurance where he specialised in design and construct risks.

To accommodate the growing team in Manchester, TMHCCI has moved from serviced offices in the city to a larger, permanent premises that also offers enhanced trading capability.

Andrew Macpherson, regional underwriting director for professional risks, said: “We are delighted to welcome Jazz, Scott and Rhian to the team. Our division has grown exponentially over the last few years, and these hires further demonstrate our commitment to servicing markets across the UK as we continue to invest in our regional presence.

“For many in the market, London is the base for underwriting professional risks, but at TMHCCI, we know that brokers operating in and around the regions look after many excellent professional clients. We are determined to provide them with the same level of service that London-based businesses enjoy, wherever they are in the country.”

Frances Eaton, underwriting manager for professional risks, based in Manchester, added: “The newly acquired space will help us as we continue to grow. We are proud of our reputation as one of, if not the largest and most experienced, Professional Risks underwriting teams in the city and the wider North West.”
