Specialist and corporate insurer Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK) has appointed Ben Amphlett as deputy underwriter for its aviation lines.
Amphlett will be responsible for developing an aviation contingency product for TMK, and will also work on maintaining and developing other syndicate aviation business with a specific emphasis on the airlines and aerospace accounts. He will report to James Walker, active underwriter, aviation.
Amphlett has over 15 years of experience in aviation, having most recently served as senior underwriter, aviation at Chubb.
Prior to this he spent 13 years as an underwriter for Global Aerospace, where he wrote airline, aerospace and contingent business.
Paul Culham, group chief underwriting officer, commented: “Like many classes of business, aviation has seen significant softening of rates in the last few years.
“The way we are looking to stay ahead in such a tough market is by having experienced, technical underwriters who truly understand their business line.
“Ben is an example of this: he has all-round experience in multiple disciplines of aviation, especially in contingency, a strand of business that we have not previously been writing.”
