Topsail Re plucks former Argo exec to boost underwriting

Cayman islands-based reinsurer Topsail Re has bolstered its underwriting leadership recruiting a senior executive with a background at Argo Group, NewCo RE, Qatar Re, and Endurance Specialty Insurance.

RobLee Womack Jr. (pictured) will take the role of senior vice president of underwriting, where his responsibilities will include underwriting, marketing, and account management.

Womack has more than 35 years of re/insurance industry experience. He began his re/insurance career on the insurance underwriting side of the industry. As a primary underwriter he wrote personal, commercial, and auto business classes.

After moving to reinsurance, Womack underwrote professional liability, long tail casualty lines, property, and catastrophe.

For the past 20 years, his focus has been leading and building teams of underwriters for short tail property lines while assisting in the development and build out of five Bermuda start-ups. From 2012 to 2019, he served as global head of catastrophe for Qatar Re. Prior to that, he was president and chief underwriting officer of Pulsar Reinsurance, executive vice president at Argo Group, SVP, department head property catastrophe at Endurance Specialty.
