UK-based travel insurance provider tifgroup has unveiled new policies across a range of its insurance products that include cover for events related to COVID-19.
The coverages include trip cancellation, curtailment, medical expenses, and denied boarding.
tifgroup said a number of its products will now include coverage for cancellation if the policyholder contracts COVID-19 within 14 days of their trip starting, curtailment if they contract the virus during the trip, medical expenses cover if the insured falls ill while on holidays, and denied boarding cover for refused boarding on the inbound flight due to having or a suspected case of COVID-19.
“We’ve been working hard to make sure we can offer customers a travel insurance policy that provides them with peace of mind and reassurance, as they travel during these uncertain times. While other insurers may be reluctant to offer cover related to the coronavirus, we knew that it was the right thing to do for our customers so that they can enjoy a stress-free holiday knowing that they’re protected," a company spokesperson said in a statement.
