Unicorn insurtech bolttech nabs Aon leader for top role in Asia
Fast-growing insurtech bolttech has hired a former senior executive of Aon and AIG as head of insurance exchange Asia. He was most recently head of Asia affinity and digital solutions business at Aon.
Stuart Watson (pictured) assumed the role of director, insurance exchange, Asia in July. He is based in Singapore.
Watson will lead business development for bolttech’s embedded insurance and marketplace propositions in the region, working closely with new and existing partners as well as intermediaries.
Watson has a track record in developing, pricing, and launching new markets, partnerships, insurance product lines and multinational programmes. He has 18 years of international and cross-cultural experience in the insurance industry, including past stints at large insurance and broking firms such as Aon, AIG and Aegon.
Prior to joining bolttech, Watson was at Aon where he was leading Aon’s overall Affinity & Digital Solutions strategy across 13 countries covering Greater China, Japan and Southeast Asia.
Earlier this year, bolttech acquired a Singapore-based insurance intermediary and specialist broker AVA Insurance Brokers and AVA Insurance Agency as part of its international expansion strategy, following its $247 million Series A last year, with strategic investors including Singapore’s EDBI.
bolttech achieved the unicorn status with its oversubscribed $180 million series A funding round in July 2021, and has since expanded its presence in Europe, Asia and North America.
