Pioneer expands renewable energy team with HDI hire

Pioneer Underwriters has appointed Sam Bishop as an underwriter in its renewable energy team, based in London.

Bishop joins Pioneer from HDI Global Specialty SE where he was an underwriting manager responsible for the operational power portfolio, underwriting global operational power accounts. Prior to that, he was an underwriting associate in the technical risks department for Starr Underwriting Agents.

Bishop will reports to Warren Diogo, head of renewable energy at Pioneer.

Graeme Rayner, group director of underwriting at Pioneer, commented: “Our dedicated renewable energy operation combines industry expertise with a broad underwriting remit to offer truly relevant insurance solutions. It is a growing area of our portfolio and I am pleased to welcome Sam to the team. He brings strong relationships and industry experience, which will enhance our offering in this specialist sector.
