XL Catlin appoints global cargo leader from Brit
Re/insurer XL Catlin has appointed Andrew Coutts to the position of global practice leader for cargo.
Coutts joins XL Catlin from Brit Global Specialty, where he worked for nearly 10 years as cargo underwriter. He has more than 30 years of experience in the marine cargo insurance industry and has held several positions within industry trade bodies, including the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) and the International Underwriting Association (IUA).
Based in London, Coutts will be responsible for managing a global underwriting team and the company's cargo insurance portfolios in the London Market, providing clients and brokers globally with expert underwriting and claims service.
Robert McAdams, XL Catlin’s chief underwriting officer for global marine, said: “In this transitioning market, it is essential that we continue to build upon the high standards and consistent level of service our clients have come to expect from us. I am delighted to bring Andrew on board; his strong leadership and understanding of the market is exactly what we need to steer strategy for our Cargo team globally."
