XL grows team with US appointment
Andrew Pinkes has been appointed as executive vice president, global head of claims at XL Group’s Insurance operations. He succeeds Paul Tuhy who will assume position as head of Global Aerospace Business.
Pinkes, who has 20 years’ experience within the insurance industry, joins XL from The Hartford, where he most recently served as executive vice president of claims, and president of its Heritage Holdings, a company that manages The Hartford’s domestic and international property and casualty run-off operations.
Tuhy, who has been with XL since 2003, has previously managed XL Group’s claims operations in Continental Europe and Asia, and served as head of claims for North America.
“XL is known for taking on businesses’ toughest risks,” said Greg Hendrick, chief executive of XL Group’s insurance operations. “Insuring complex risks requires proven experience and expertise to resolve complicated claims situations to help our clients recover and get back to their business.
“Under Paul’s leadership, we have done just that – and through some very significant industry loss events. It is on that strong foundation that we are excited to have Andy join XL and lead our claims organisation to the next level. Paul’s industry experience will bring an exciting perspective to our Aerospace business. Attracting and retaining top talent is at the core of our strategy and we feel this is an excellent example of this in action.”
Pinkes will be based in Hartford, Connecticut and report to Hendrick, while Tuhy will continue to be based in XL’s New York office and report to Neil Robertson, chief executive of XL Group’s Specialty Insurance operations, based in London.
