Zurich hires former regional officer from Generali as CEO for Asia Pacific

Zurich has expanded its Asia-Pacific operations with the appointment of Jack Howell as regional chief executive officer (CEO), effective September 1.

Based in Hong Kong, Howell will report to Mario Greco, group CEO of Zurich Insurance Group.

The current regional CEO of Zurich in Asia Pacific, Stuart Spence, will remain in the region working closely with Howell.

Howell has over 20 years of industry experience, particularly managing insurance business in the Asia Pacific region, having most recently served as regional officer for Asia at Generali.

Prior to this, he has held CEO positions at AIG and Prudential in the Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia.

Mario Greco, group chief executive officer of Zurich Insurance Group, commented: “Jack’s extensive experience coupled with his leadership capabilities make him the ideal person to strengthen our position in Asia Pacific, where we see exciting potential to develop our business.

“He will continue to build our presence in the region and drive profitable growth.”
