MNK Re targets expansion in surety market with Gallagher swoop
Independent Lloyd’s broker MNK Re has tapped a surety market expert from Gallagher to expand its international presence in the sector.
Giles Ham joins MNK Re as associate director – surety, with a mandate to facilitate coverage for difficult and hard-to-place risks worldwide and expand MNK Re’s client base. This includes overseas clients looking to access specialist London capacity.
Ham is a surety broker with over 30 years of experience in the market. He has worked on various civil infrastructure projects, including the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, and the Ted Williams Tunnel in Boston, Massachusetts.
Manoj Kumar, MNK Re Group chief executive officer, said: “Giles brings a wealth of experience and knowledge, so we’re delighted to welcome him to MNK Re. His appointment is an important step as we continue our rapid international expansion and build our book of business in the surety market.
“He has a track record of delivering for his clients and I’ve no doubt that MNK Re will benefit enormously from his understanding of the market and specialist insight.”
Ham said: “I’m thrilled to join MNK Re at a time when the surety market is growing internationally and in high demand; this is exactly the right time for innovative, ambitious firms to have the right bond facilities in place for their future needs. I’m looking forward to using my network and knowledge of the market to help clients find the solutions they need.
“Governments and businesses across the world are seeking to develop increasingly complex infrastructure projects in response to issues like climate change. I’m excited to work with Manoj and the team to help them access bespoke coverage that can provide protection required by employers.”
