AJG appoints MENA practice director
Broker Arthur J Gallagher (AJG) has appointed Nawaf Hasan as MENA practice director to lead and manage organic growth in the Middle East and North Africa.
This is a newly created position and will help drive the business’ international strategy to maximise opportunities and support clients within this fast growing, high potential geography, according to AJG.
Nawaf joined AJG’s London-based energy practice in September 2014.
In his new role he will be responsible for coordinating AJG’s business across MENA and identifying and developing opportunities for its specialty product lines. He will also ensure a joined-up approach to serving Arthur J. Gallagher’s clients in the region and activating markets within these important geographies.
“In 2015 the Qatar Financial Centre Authority valued the MENA insurance markets at $50 billion and advancements in business regulatory reform are making it easier to trade in the region,” said Vyvienne Wade, international commercial director at AJG.
“This creates a fantastic opportunity for our teams within Gallagher to export their specialist retail and wholesale broking capabilities into the vibrant and fast-growing countries that make up the Middle East and North Africa. Nawaf has the insight and in-depth knowledge, together with first–hand experience of doing business in this part of the world, to make that strategy a reality.”
Hasan added: “There are significant opportunities to expand Gallagher’s specialty expertise in the MENA region. We are seeing major investment in Africa and the Middle East has experienced rapid economic growth.
“Both regions are increasingly more attractive to insurers and offer growing numbers of opportunities in the specialty lines of business but especially in the energy and infrastructure space. I look forward to helping increase Gallagher’s presence in this region.”
