Alesco Risk Management poaches Miller energy head

Alesco Risk Management Services has appointed Simon Clarkson as an executive partner in its energy division, effective December 2016.

Clarkson will be focusing on new business opportunities in the US upstream energy market, and will report to Jonathan Lyne, chairman of the energy division.

Clarkson has over 30 years of industry experience, having most recently served as head of energy for Miller, where he was responsible managing primarily US upstream, downstream and production business lines.

Prior to this, he served as a director at Lloyd and Partners. He has also worked with financial services group Alexander Forbes, establishing their energy division, and Colburn French and Kneen, working on hull, and oil and gas business lines.

“Over the last 18 months both the energy and insurance markets have experienced challenging market conditions. But we believe that there are still significant growth opportunities for brokers that have the bench strength and agility to capitalise on them,” said Lyne.

“We are investing in our talent and Simon is a great example of the calibre of people joining us. His wealth of global energy market experience complements and strengthens the team we have at Alesco. He is a well-known market figure and I look forward to working with him when he joins.”
