Allianz AGCS beefs up NA underwriting with triple hire from Chubb

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS),  Allianz group's specialist corporate insurer, is expanding its environmental impairment liability (EIL) underwriting unit in North America with strategic key hires.

Annalisa Ahumada has been appointed as an underwriting specialist in Chicago responsible for growing and managing the environmental impairment liability business in the Midwest and growing broker and client relationships in these product areas.

Ahumada has more than 18 years’ experience in managing and underwriting environmental risk, as well as evaluating environmental conditions, health and safety, mitigation and sustainability measures. Prior to joining AGCS, she held senior environmental underwriting positions at Chubb, Zurich NA, and AIG and was an Environmental Engineer for the City of Chicago Department of Environment.

Andrew Hill joins AGCS as an executive underwriter in New York responsible for driving new and renewal business opportunities for the environmental impairment business across the Northeast Region and managing broker relationships.

Hill has experience in environmental insurance, underwriting and environmental risk consulting. Prior to joining AGCS, he held environmental underwriting and risk analyst positions at Chubb and Santander Bank.

Finally, Mark Heigh has been hired as an underwriting specialist in Philadelphia responsible for driving environmental impairment liability business production in the Northeast.

Prior to joining AGCS, Heigh worked at Philadelphia Insurance Companies and Chubb as an environmental underwriter.

“An increased focus on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues across multiple industries has prompted businesses to look closer at reducing their carbon footprint and implementing responsible environmental business practices,” said Steve Tagert, regional environmental practice group leader, North America.

AGCS is responding and strengthening our underwriting expertise by adding talent to our North America EIL team in order to align with and support the changing risk management needs of our clients.”

Tagert added: “ AGCS EIL is focused on growing underwriting talent to help our customers evaluate their risk management strategies to address environmental exposures that can have a big impact on their operations and bottom line.

"These new hires will help us deliver the market-leading insurance solutions our brokers and clients require to drive their business success, as well as bring additional knowledge to our expert team of AGCS EIL underwriters and specialists."

AGCS’ environmental liability insurance provides premises pollution and contractors pollution coverage for large accounts and middle market business, with a special focus on manufacturing, energy, construction, real estate and retail trade.
