AmWINS acquires 15 Willis insurance programmes

US wholesale distributor of specialty insurance AmWINS Group said on Oct. 16 that it is acquiring 15 insurance programmes from brokerage Willis Towers Watson.

“The programmes, product expertise and underwriting talent that we are acquiring from Willis Programs will expand and diversify our underwriting division and support our long-term growth strategy to provide niche programmes for our retail clients," said AmWINS CEO Steven DeCarlo.

The 15 acquired programmes have a team of over 115 experienced professionals with offices in Portsmouth, New Hampshire; Burlington, Vermont; Tampa, Florida; among others. The programmes being acquired by AmWINS include MountainGuard, which provides underwriting, claims, and loss control services to the majority of ski resorts in North America, and DealerGuard, which provides Dealer Open Lot and Comprehensive Package coverages for franchised and independent auto, truck, and RV dealers.

The acquired programmes will become part of AmWINS Program Underwriters, which currently underwrites 20 programmes with over $150 million of premium.

AmWINS has 4,300 employees across 12 countries and over $14 billion in annual premium placements, according to the statement.
