Antares launches on Lloyd’s Asia Platform; hires CEO from Zurich
Antares, part of Qatar Insurance Group, has launched Antares Underwriting Asia, a new offering on the Lloyd’s Asia Platform.
The new business has received approval from the Monetary Authority of Singapore and Lloyd’s Asia to begin underwriting from 1 November 2015.
Antares Asia will initially underwrite a core portfolio of marine, property and specialty products, building on the strengths of Antares Syndicate 1274, before looking to expand its available products to include the full range currently available within the Group. Its focus is on specialist insurance and reinsurance lines.
It will be led by Li Shan Yeo who has been appointed as chief executive officer of the new business, and will build a strong team of local underwriters to enhance existing relationships with clients and brokers in the region.
Yeo joins Antares from Zurich, where she served most recently as chief underwriting officer of Zurich Singapore. Prior to this she spent seven years at Federal Insurance Company culminating with her appointment as Asia INT & Life Sciences Casualty Specialist.
