Aon swoops on WTW & Marsh for US construction/casualty leadership roles

Global re/insurance broker  Aon has bolstered its construction and infrastructure capabilities in the US with three senior hires from Marsh, Willis Towers Watson and Adolfson & Peterson.

Brenna Mann has joined the firm as chief strategy officer. Mann spent the last nine years at Adolfson & Peterson (A&P) Construction Group, most recently serving as its chief legal officer and corporate secretary, where she was involved in setting strategy and managing legal, risk management and construction processes, along with technology, and human resources functions at the Minneapolis-based firm. She previously spent 10 years with privately-held general contractor Kraemer North America.

Cormac O’Connor has been appointed construction casualty practice leader. O’Connor spent nearly 15 years with Marsh - most recently as US construction team leader in the casualty practice, after previously serving as national project and excess casualty construction placement leader. He joined Marsh in 2008 as part of the Bowring Marsh operations in Dublin, Ireland, before relocating to New York. He previously spent three years as a captive insurance executive for Aon in Dublin, after eight years working for Aviva.

Finally, Pete Shea has joined Aon as senior vice president. Over the last decade, Shea has been an industry leader while working at Willis Towers Watson, K2 Placements and QBE North America in New York. Before that, he spent five years as a practice leader manager for Starr Companies’ specialty excess casualty business.

All three hires will join Aon’s rebranded US construction and infrastructure practice, which is led by Tony DeFelice and sits within the firm’s US Commercial Risk Solutions.

Over the summer, Aon also hired Matthew Hannon to be chief broking officer for its US casualty division, promoted Cliff Allen to US primary casualty practice leader and Stephen Hackenburg to US national casualty practice leader.
