ARAG appoints Bristol CII president to key underwriting role

Germany-based legal expenses insurance provider ARAG has appointed Chris Morter to the role of before-the-event (BTE) underwriting manager.

Morter is a chartered insurer and president of the Insurance Institute of Bristol. He started his insurance career at Aviva in 2003 before moving into legal expenses insurance in 2009, where he started to build his underwriting experience.

In his new role, Morter will manage the underwriting of all of ARAG’s BTE legal expenses and assistance services business.

Also joining the ARAG team are David Johnson who takes on the role of BTE senior claims handler, compliance advisor Amelia Richards, product development advisor Abi Green, and Galina Deneff who joins as a product development analyst.

David Haynes, underwriting and marketing director, commented: “It’s great to welcome Chris to the team. As well as being a very highly qualified and skilled underwriter, he also brings a lot of specific legal expenses insurance experience with him, which is invaluable.”
