Arch swoops on Markel for professional liability expansion

Arch Insurance International, a part of Bermuda-based Arch Capital Group, has expanded its professional liability portfolio with the hiring of a senior underwriter from Markel.

Patrizia Barattini (pictured) joins Arch in London as senior professional liability underwriter.

Barattini will be responsible for delivering insurance solutions across a broad range of clients and territories, joining Arch’s professional liability team that provides global coverage for exposures ranging from large complex risks to smaller accounts. She will report to Austen Barnes, underwriting manager, professional liability.

Barattini has over 10 years of experience in the professional liability arena, operating across both international and European accounts. She joins from Markel International where she was most recently an underwriter within its professional liability team.

Barnes said: “At Arch, we are continually seeking opportunities to develop our professional liability portfolio. Patrizia brings considerable expertise across professions and territories not currently within our book of business and will be key to our efforts to expand into new areas, while bolstering our standing in our existing sectors.”
