Argo taps specialty and E&S turnaround guru to lead its US insurance

Bermuda-based global specialty insurer  Argo Group has plucked the top officer and turnaround architect from US E&S and specialty insurer GuideOne to serve as president of its US insurance operations, effective immediately.

Jessica Snyder caught Argo’s attention for a turnaround story she led during her five-year tenure as CEO of GuideOne, drawing accolades for expanding its niche commercial and E&S lines, rejigging its reinsurance program, and engineering a financial recovery.

Snyder had held C-suite appointments over the course of some 20 years even before taking the top spot at GuideOne. That career path included a CFO post at the Florida state insurer of last resort and CFO and COO posts within the State Auto Group where she eventually moved into commercial and specialty lines.

Argo executive chairman and chief executive officer Tom Bradley (pictured) said: “Jessica has extensive executive experience in the property and casualty insurance industry that will serve Argo well as we continue to invest in the U.S. business and accelerate profitable growth. She also has a proven track record of leading transformational growth strategies. We are confident she is a strong leader to help drive our U.S. business into the future.”
