ArgoGlobal poaches Canopius exec for underwriter role
ArgoGlobal, a Lloyd’s insurer and member of Argo Group, has appointed Luke Birtwistle as casualty treaty underwriter.
Birtwistle will report to Stuart Dale, class underwriter, casualty treaty.
He joins ArgoGlobal from Canopius Group, where he served as assistant underwriter, international casualty treaty reinsurance, since 2013.
At Canopius, Birtwistle worked on London market and international business across a range of classes, predominantly on an excess of loss basis, including professional and environmental liability, workers’ compensation, professional indemnity, directors and officers, financial institutions, medical malpractice, motor, retrocession and STXL lines.
He began his career in financial services as an equity research analyst at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods.
