Ariel Re taps ex-Nephila/RenRe exec as first chief analytics officer

Bermuda-based multi-line reinsurer  Ariel Re has hired a former Nephila and RenRe senior executive to join the company in the newly created role of chief analytics officer.

Apryle Oswald (pictured) will be based in the Ariel Re Bermuda office. She will lead a team with responsibility for continuing to provide the company with leading edge analytics to promote superior underwriting capabilities. She will also support Ariel Re’s global data management and governance, research and develop new data analytics capabilities and expand the company’s current analytics abilities by leveraging Ariel Re’s proprietary, cutting-edge portfolio software system to service our clients, regulators and investors.

Oswald most recently served as portfolio manager at Nephila Capital for eight years, and prior to that she spent seven years with Renaissance Reinsurance in the position of vice president, underwriting.

The company said that her addition to the team aligns with Ariel Re’s vision of being a “premier manager of reinsurance risk“.

Ariel Re CEO Ryan Mather said: “Apryle brings a wealth of experience and tremendous knowledge of the market, which will complement the skills of the strong analytics team we already have in place.

“The appointment of a Chief Analytics Officer reflects our ambition to embed and co-ordinate analytics across all lines of business we write, underlining its importance as a core foundation for our future success.”
