Aspen expands into Latin America

Aspen Insurance has expanded its presence in Latin America with the opening of a regional hub in Miami.

The insurer said that the Miami office will service the needs of the burgeoning energy market throughout the region with the expanded energy team within Aspen Insurance’s US business supporting the needs of the onshore energy market in Latin America.

This is part of Aspen Insurance’s previously announced strategy to expand its operations selectively in targeted market segments.

Tony Carroll, executive vice president and head of marine, energy and construction for Aspen US Insurance, said: “With the recent appointment of Gary Windsor to spearhead our onshore energy expansion into Latin America, we are building an energy team focused on bringing industry leading expertise and local knowledge to support the growing demand for energy risk solutions throughout the region. Gary’s team will begin writing business from Miami in July.”

Mario Vitale, chief executive officer of Aspen Insurance, added: “This is an important next step as we continue to expand our Insurance operations in targeted markets around the world and we plan to roll out additional products across Latin America in due course.”
