Asta appoints chief actuary

Asta, the Lloyd's third party managing agent, has appointed Richard Barke as chief actuary.

Barke has been with Asta since 2011 and most recently served as deputy chief actuary.

He succeeds Tony Jones, who is stepping down to focus on his role as managing director at Underwriting Management & Actuarial Consultancy Services (UMACS), an independent actuarial consultancy.

Julian Tighe, chief executive officer (CEO) at Asta said: “Having worked with Richard for over four years now, I am aware of his capabilities and I am delighted that he has accepted the role of chief actuary. I very much look forward to working more closely with him as he will play an important role in helping us to continue to build the business.”

Jones said: “I am very pleased for Richard, he is one of the most talented actuaries I have worked with in my career. I will continue to play an active role with Asta and I look forward to watching Richard’s career continue to flourish.”

Asta entered into an arrangement with UMACS in 2011 to supply a scalable long term actuarial resource. In addition, Asta will acquire a stake in a service company being formed with UMACS.
