AXIS expands role of insurance CUO

AXIS Insurance has expanded the responsibility of the chief executive of AXIS Specialty Europe giving him responsibility for underwriting in its international division.

Joe England who is already both chief executive and chief underwriting officer of AXIS Specialty Europe will also assume responsibility for its international division. He will still retain his existing roles.

In what is a new position, he will report to Mark Gregory, CEO of the international division, AXIS Insurance.

Gregory said: “Joe has been closely involved in the day-to-day underwriting of our specialty lines across the division for a number of years. During this time, he has developed considerable experience and knowledge over a broad range of our business, and is particularly well-qualified to assume this new role.”

Prior to joining AXIS Capital in 2004, England was responsible for ACE's marine cargo & specie London market underwriting, and for the UK retail marine & risk management survey operations of ACE Europe.
