Blenheim strengthens property team with new appointment

Blenheim Syndicate 5886 is enhancing its direct property offering with the recruitment of Simon Anthony to write direct and facultative business. Anthony will start in 2020, working alongside Simon King, head of direct and facultative property, and Nick Adams, property underwriter.

Anthony brings more than 15 years of industry experience and expertise and joins Blenheim from WRB Underwriting, where he has held the role of head of property since 2015, having joined as a property underwriter in 2012. Anthony began his career in 2004 as a property underwriter at MSF Pritchard.

John Hamblin, Blenheim director of underwriting, said: “Simon’s excellent industry reputation and ability to deliver results makes him an exciting addition to the Blenheim team. Simon’s hiring will further bolster our ability to respond to current and future market conditions and we very much look forward to welcoming him to the team.”

Blenheim Syndicate 5886 is managed by Asta and was granted approval by Lloyd’s to commence underwriting from 1 January 2017 with an initial underwriting capacity of £150 million. For 2020 the syndicate has secured a 16 percent increase in underwriting capacity from £215 million to £250 million, writing property treaty, direct property, specialty reinsurance, contingency and accident and health classes.
