BMS Re continues Brazil expansion with former Willis/Aon hire

Specialist reinsurance broker  BMS Re has hired a senior facultative executive to support its expansion in Brazil, having recently  launched its new operations in the country.

Pedro Carvalho (pictured) has over 14 years’ experience in the reinsurance market, having worked for large multinational companies such as Willis Towers Watson, Aon and IRB Re. More recently, he was the reinsurance director for MDS Re.

Carvalho will assume the role of head of BMS Re Brazil’s facultative department, based in São Paulo. He will report to José Leão, chief executive officer of BMS Re in Brazil.

“Pedro’s arrival will add more knowledge and value to the services provided by BMS Re in Brazil. I have always admired Pedro's work, and his position will be extremely important in our customer service structure,” said Leão.

Carvalho added: “Our mission is to provide our clients with innovative reinsurance solutions by using the group's extensive technical skills, access to global markets, and operational excellence. I am extremely happy to join the BMS Re team.”
