Brit swoops on Hiscox and Aviva for senior property hires

Specialty re/insurer  Brit has strengthened its North American open market property team with two new hires from Hiscox and Aviva.

James Allchorne (pictured left) and Laura Wells (pictured right) join Brit as senior underwriter and underwriter, respectively. They will report into Neil Russell, class underwriter, North American open market property.

Allchorne comes from Hiscox, where he was a property underwriter. He started his career at Argo Syndicate 1200 where he held a number of underwriting roles, the most recent being property underwriter. He also acts as a consultant for the Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance team at the World Bank.

With 20 years’ experience in direct and facultative commercial property underwriting, Wells joins from Aviva where she held the role of senior wholesale underwriter. She has also worked in a number of other underwriting positions including commercial property roles at MS Amlin, WR Berkley and Beazley.
