Canopius Group, the specialty re/insurance platform of Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Holdings, has appointed Tony Harris and Martin Cardus to develop its presence in the UK marine and pleasurecraft market.
Harris joins as divisional underwriter UK marine, while Cardus has been appointed as head of marine trades. Both will report to UK specialty head of underwriting Paul Dilley.
Harris joins from Towergate, where he served as chairman of Towergate underwriting marine.
Cardus joins Canopius from Fusion Insurance Services where he was managing director of its marine trade division.
Dilley said: “The UK marine and pleasure craft sector is an area where we have identified significant opportunities to expand our business. Tony and Martin’s expertise in the UK marine insurance market will add to our existing specialist capabilities and will be a tremendous asset as we continue to enhance and expand our product range. I am delighted to welcome them both to Canopius.”
