Charles Taylor names chief executive officer

Jeremy Grose, chief operating officer of Charles Taylor Club management, will succeed current club chief executive officer, Alistair Groom, following his retirement in 2014.

“I am particularly pleased that Jeremy Grose will succeed Alistair as chief executive officer of the Standard Club management,” said David Marock, group chief executive officer of Charles Taylor. “Jeremy has made a massive contribution to the development and success of our P&I business and I know that he will do a fantastic job for the club.”

Ricardo Menendez, president and chairman of the Standard Club said: “Alistair Groom has been instrumental in making the Standard Club one of the world’s most respected P&I Clubs. His leadership has focused the club clearly on delivering a high quality of service to members, coupled with ensuring its financial strength and stability. I am delighted that he will continue to have an active involvement with the club.”

Groom, who will leave his role in early 2014, will remain on the club’s board, likely taking on the role of non-executive chairman of The Standard Club Europe. He is also expected to continue in a part time role with Charles Taylor.

“We will mark Alistair’s retirement fully in 2014,” said Marock. “I would, however, like to thank him now for his remarkable contribution to Charles Taylor and the Standard Club since he joined the Group in 1977. I am delighted that he has agreed to continue his long involvement with the club and in a part time role with Charles Taylor. His huge experience and astute guidance will be a great asset as we continue to progress our business plans.”
