Chaucer joins International Underwriting Association of London
The Hanover-owned Chaucer Insurance Company has joined the International Underwriting Association of London (IUA).
Incorporated in Dublin, Chaucer Insurance Company was established last year as part of the wider Chaucer group to write a broad range of international specialty insurance business, offering clients a complementary platform to Chaucer’s Lloyd’s operation.
Dave Matcham, chief executive of the IUA, said: “Chaucer is a well-established and highly respected name in the London Market after many years of operation in Lloyd’s. With the formation of a company market platform, they are a great name to add to the IUA’s growing list of members.
"Joining the IUA enables companies to access a wide range of research and resources and provides the opportunity to influence market developments and add to our increasingly influential representative voice,” Matcham added.
Michelle Moore, general manager of Chaucer Insurance Company, said: “Our new carrier has increased Chaucer’s trading capabilities and flexibility, offering first class international specialty expertise to clients. IUA membership will further support our development, providing valuable backup services for everyday operations across our organisation.”
Chaucer is one of 49 IUA member companies. The association’s annual statistical survey of the London company market showed the sector had an overall premium income of £22.73 billion in 2016, according to the press release.
