Chubb appoints head of digital product for SMEs

Insurer Chubb has created a new role in its small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) team for developing new technologies and digital platforms to service small businesses.

Patrick Suter has been appointed as the head of digital product development for SMEs in the UK and Ireland, effective immediately. He will be based in London and will report to head of SME in UK and Ireland Ruth Polyblank.

Suter has held actuarial and underwriting positions during last eight years at ACE, which completed a merge with Chubb this year.

He joined ACE in 2009 as one of the first actuarial analysts in corporate predictive modelling team based out of Bermuda, before moving to a casualty pricing role in 2012, and later in 2014 to the global accounts division as casualty underwriter.

Polyblank said: “Patrick, with his great experience in advanced analytics and his solution-driven thinking will be pivotal to the success of our strategy. I welcome him to our SME team and I look forward to working with him.

“From digital start-ups to photographers, the 5.4 million SMEs in the UK are the backbone of the British economy. To grow, small businesses need the confidence that comprehensive insurance cover can give them backed-up by digital solutions that save them time and resources.

“With demand from small businesses and brokers growing, we are placing innovation and going beyond traditional insurance models at the very heart of our SME strategy to meet changing customer needs.”
