Ed bolsters transactional risk team with new hire

Reinsurance, wholesale and specialty broker Ed has appointed Robert Coward as divisional director in its professional and executive risk team.

Coward joins Ed from law firm Travers Smith, where he was an associate working in the private equity team. Prior to that, he was an associate at McDermott Will & Emery, where he specialised in corporate M&A.

In his new role, Coward will provide legal expertise in providing insurance solutions for M&A transactions, including warranty and indemnity, tax liability and contingent liability. He will report to Niraj Perera, head of transactional risk.

Perera said: “Robert’s appointment is indicative of Ed’s continued commitment and ambition to expand its bespoke transactional risk offering. Despite challenging times, there is currently a sharp focus on the M&A market, and we are confident that our ability to hire and invest in the best industry talent means that we can provide top-tier support and advice to our clients. Robert’s UK and international legal experience in M&A transactions will be an asset to our team, as we deliver specialty solutions to our private equity and legal clients.”
